Following an invitation from Biberach’s Mayor Thomas Fettback for former deportees to visit Biberach the Guernsey Deportees Association (GDA) was formed and the first group travelled to Biberach that year.
The Guernsey Council of Churches (GCC) invited citizens from Biberach to take part in a “Week of Reconciliation” organised following the theme of “Reconciliation” chosen for the 2nd European Ecumenical Assembly which took place in Graz, Austria that year.
