German Ambassador visits Guernsey
Dr Peter Ammon, the German Ambassador to the Royal Court of St James, visited Guernsey recently with his wife, Mrs Marliese Heimann-Ammon. During their time in the island, they visited Victor Hugo’s House and were given a personal tour by the French Honorary Consul, Odile Blanchette, before visiting the Military Cemetery at Fort George with Guernsey’s Bailiff, Sir Richard Collas, where they laid flowers of remembrance. A busy weekend also included a visit to Herm, Candie Museum, Priaulx Library and the Occupation Museum. There was also a special lunch held at Les Cotils where the Ambassador and his wife were able to meet many of the Guernsey Friends of Biberach. Happily, this day fell on the occasion of Peter Lane’s 80th birthday, which was entirely appropriate!
