Newsletter, September 2009
At the moment we are busy preparing for the “Guernsey Week” in Biberach which is to be held in October and would like to keep you informed on the progress that is being made. Enclosed a more detailed programme, so you can have some idea of what is being planned. The actual programme has been put together by the Guernsey Friends in Biberach, but as you can see quite a number of people from Guernsey will be taking part.
The main “Week” starts with the official opening on Friday 16th October 2009 at 7.00 pm with the opening of an exhibition “Guernsey - Biberach. Internees yesterday, Friends today” which is being prepared by Biberach. This will be followed by a talk with Sir de Vic Carey.
The following day will see the opening of an exhibition which is being prepared by Dr Jason Monaghan, Museums Director, who will be travelling to Biberach to put up the exhibition himself.
The Week will end with a concert on Sunday, 25th October at 8.00 pm entitled “Guernsey meets Biberach” where Christine’ Anthony’s Bel Canto Choir will perform together with the Orchestra from Biberach directed by Andreas Winter, which had played at St James’s and in the Market Square earlier this year.
Everyone is welcome to take part in this “Guernsey Week” and Biberach is happy to arrange accommodation with families wherever possible. You would need to make your own travel arrangements, but I am always happy to advise on the different travel options and could give you travel details of others already booked.
If you are thinking of travelling to Biberach for the Guernsey Week and have not yet made any arrangements, you need to urgently contact either myself or Sabine Engelhardt of the Kulturamt, whose contact details are at the bottom of the programme.
