Photos from Biberach
Photos taken in Biberach during visit of Guernsey Concert and Orchestral Choir, summer 2013.
David Skillett has shared more photographs taken by Michael Carré during the trip to Biberach last summer, and has captioned each picture;
Photo No 1 shows the parade of the 70 year olds through the streets of Biberach. The lady in the foreground bedecked with presents is Carol Wheatley who was born in Biberach during the internment years. The lady waving the Guernsey flag is Lucy de Carteret a member of the choir who happened to be celebrating her 70th birthday in 2013 and so was invited to take part in the parade. I am immediately behind her.
Photo No 2 was taken during the Burgermeister’s official reception for the Guernsey choir. I am in the foreground with my sister Gloria and the lady standing between us is Vera Koch, the sister in law of my “Milch Brüder”, Heinrich Koch.
Photo No 3 is of my sister Gloria and me, and was taken at the above reception.
Photo No 4 again taken at the reception, shows Michael Carré a member of the choir, who provided me with the photographs and incidentally was in my class at the Grammar School.
Photo No 5 was taken in the room at the Police training school which houses the model of the former internment camp and where Gloria and I had joined choir members on their visit to the camp. Gloria is shown unpacking two photographs of my late father’s paintings of the camp which we had brought to Germany to present to Heinrich Koch.
